Maria W. Stewart (1803-1879)
Supplement to Biographical Sketch
After Maria Stewart left Boston, she taught school in New York, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. In or near the capital, Stewart taught for five years in freedmen's schools, after which she worked as a matron at the Freedmen's Hospital.
