Introduction

In early 1965, Jesse Morris asked me to go to Batesville, where the local project was asking for help in organizing a farm co-operative. My background in Kibbutz had given me a confidence in the collective as an economically and socially viable tool. Once again, I was working with local farmers, a particularly meaningful experience for me that gave me a clearly defined goal.

dear mama + daddy--

a note--I'm fine--happy--more at peace now then For a long time anywhere. I have been working with the Farmers on their co-op For the last 2 weeks. there is little that can be done for the sharecroppers, but I am at least getting to know some of them and learning. I'll try to keep posted.

Love, elayne
