Introduction

This multi-page brochure invites comparison with the stance ERA supporters took in 1980. Campaigners listed what they hoped to achieve with the passage of the ERA, and refuted their opponents allegations including arguments that the ERA would encourage women to take up witchcraft, become lesbians, or result in war veterans losing their benefits. The document appeals to men for support based on possible improvements from the amendment of family income and insurance benefits. Similar to other brochure's, it uses the text of the amendment to support their claims that the ERA will have no effect on gay rights or abortion and will benefit the legal equality of women in courts, insurance, and the workplace. It also addresses other motivations of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition, claiming the CC has collected millions of dollars for the 1996 presidential election and is using the Iowa campaign to extend their organization into the state's largest cities. This brochure takes an in-depth look at the motivations of opponents and attacks their claims directly.

DON'T LET THEM TAKE
AWAY YOUR RIGHTS!

Why does Pat Robertson want to keep women out of the Iowa Constitution?

On the surface Roberson says the women's movement encourages ... "women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

This is ridiculous, but it's also dangerous
-- so before you vote, read inside...
