    Local newspaper coverage reported the settlement and the imminent return to work of the striking Chinese garment workers.

Garment Factory Strike Settled

    An agreement between the Golden Gate Manufacturing Company and the Chinese local of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union was announced yesterday, ending a 100-day strike at the company's Chinatown factory.

    National Dollar Stores, Ltd., former owners of the plant withdrew a $500,000 damage suit filed against the union for picketing its retail stores. The union dropped unfair charges lodged against Dollar stores with the National Labor Relations Board.

    The union won a 5 per cent pay increase and recognition.
