Document 15: Guerrilla Girls, "Guerrilla Girls Go Back to the Jungle," 1990, in Confessions of the Guerrilla Girls, by the Guerrilla Girls (whoever they really are) (New York: HarperPerennial, 1995), p. 65.
Introduction
Although by the mid-1990s it seemed that, to a degree, the Guerrilla Girls had lost some momentum, the group had long remained skeptical that things were really improving for women and people of color in the art world. In this project for Artforum magazine, the group comments on the true state of the 1990s art world. Of this project the Guerrilla Girls write, "By 1990, 'multiculturalism' was a buzzword, accompanied by the perception that things had gotten better for women and artists of color. Artforum asked us to do one of their 'Artist's Projects,' and in it we announced the conditions for our retirement."[29]
